Any qualified voter who is unable to vote at his/her regular polling place on election day may vote by making application to the Absentee Election Manager.

The application must reach the appropriate office at least five days prior to the election. However, if there are extenuating circumstances (such as being hospitalized or on an unexpected business trip) contact the Absentee Election Manager.

The Madison County Young Republicans will host a debate between Wayne Parker and Dale Strong who are the Republican candidates for Madison County Commission Chairman. The debate will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 pm at The Huntsville Museum of Art. Social time begins at 6:00 pm

Alabama Republican Party Leader Melba Peters passed away on Monday, December 19 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. Melba was a charter member of the Republican Women of Huntsville and was a mentor to many state and local Republicans who had the privilege of working with her in the Republican Party over the years. Melba contributed greatly to building the Republican Party to what it is now. She was a member of the local Madison County Republican Executive Committee and the Alabama Republican Executive Committee. She was also an associate member of the Twickenham Republican Women. She was active in the Republican Men's Club. In the past she was a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

The visitation will be Wednesday, December 21 from 5-8 pm at the Laughlin Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Avenue in Huntsville. The funeral will be at 11 am on Thursday,
December 22 at the Laughlin Funeral Home chapel. The phone number there is 256-534-2471. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Please keep her husband Elbert Peters and family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Melba Peters will be greatly missed by all.

The ALGOP Qualifying Packet which includes the Candidate & Elected Office Campaign Finance Report Form, Appointment of Principal Campaign Committee Form, etc. may be found at Qualifying Packet. The Qualifying Packet also includes a calendar of due dates for Campaign Finance Reports during the 2012 Election Cycle.

Qualifying fees are 2% of the annual salary. Qualifying fees for presidential delegates are $150.
